A goal, midway through the 2nd half, sparked a revival by Moyvane, who recovered from a 4 point deficit to win by the narrowest of margins in Con Brosnan Park, Moyvane last Saturday, Sep 5th.
Moyvane got off to a better start, winning the early midfield battles, and opened up the scoring with a point from Donal Leahy on the 4th minute. This was soon followed by a pointed free from former Kerry Minor star Paddy Curtin. Templenoe kept in touch and their first score came from a fisted point by corner forward Brian Crowley. The next ten minutes saw Moyvane moving well and the notched up 3 points in a row from Cathal O’Connor and 2 from Paddy Curtin.
Halfway through the half, Templenoe started to come more into the proceedings and were rewarded by a beautiful long range point from Patrick Palmer. Templenoe followed up with the next 4 scores from Patrick Palmer, Adrian Spillane, Tadhg Morley and Brian Crowley as they began to dominate proceedings. The final score of the half was from a free by Paddy Curtin leaving the teams all square on a scoreline of Moyvane 0-06, Templenoe 0-06
Templenoe resumed the 2nd half in the same fashion as they finished out the first half. In the next 10 minutes they reeled off 4 hard worked points from Patrick Palmer (0-02) and Martin Reilly (0-02). The momentum of the match was swinging in Templenoe’s direction as they looked to be in control, but all changed when a high ball landing near the Templenoe square, was finished to the net by Ian McCarthy after a scramble. Moyvane got great heart from this score and renewed their workrate, winning a lot of the exchanges for the next 10 minutes. In this period the scored three unanswered points from Paddy Curtin (0-02) and Aiden Keane. The score with 10 min to go was Moyvane 1-09, Templenoe 0-10
Two further points by Paddy Curtin were scored either side of a Patrick Palmer point, leaving Templenoe 3 points down with 5 minutes to go. Templenoe pushed hard to get a result from their long trip to North Kerry, and points from Patrick Palmer and Gavin Crowley reduced the difference to a point . However time was against them leaving a final scoreline of Moyvane 1-11, Templenoe 0-13
