Templenoe 2-13 Knocknagoshel 1-09

Templenoe were crowned Division 5 Champions after defeating Knocknagoshel in the final round of the campaign in front of a large crowd in Templenoe on Sunday. Templenoe led from the start with Martin Reilly, Patrick Palmer and Shane Cremin all on target for the home side. Edmund Walsh opened the visitor's account with a point, before Templenoe, with scores from Aidrian Spillane, Patrick Palmer and a left legged effort from Shane Cremin extended their lead. Then came a goal from Martin Reilly after the goalkeeper had saved his first shot. After that Knocknagoshel went on an attack, which ended in a foul on their wing forward John O'Keeffe. Joe Regan converted the resultant penalty.

Templenoe responded immediately however, with a well taken goal by Brian Crowley after a solo run from the left wing. Points followed from Niall Barrett, Lee Roche and Edmund Walsh to leave the game at 2-6 to 1-4. Just before the break Templenoe got scores from Shane  Cremin and Patrick Palmer to leave the half time score, Templenoe 2-8 Knocknagoshel 1-4.

Points early in the second half by Tadhg Morley and Kieran McCarthy gave Templenoe a good lead. But Knocknagosehel kept battling and were rewarded with pointed frees from Edmund Walsh and Mike Walsh. Sean Sheahan had a point for Templenoe, before Knock replied with scores from James Walsh and Edmund Walsh. However the final say went to Templenoe, with Timmy Clifford landing a free over the bar to leave the final score, Templenoe 2-13, Knocknagoshel 1-9.

Templenoe finished the season on top of Division 5 with six wins out of seven and the Division 5 Shield was presented to Templenoe Captain Shane Cremin by Eddie O'Sullivan. In his speech Shane thanked the players, the Management team of Mike Crowley, Paul Crowley and John K O'Sullivan, the Club officers and the Field Committee. He also thanked the supporters who have been turning out in great numbers at both home and away matches as the season progressed.
