Templenoe 3-16, Lispole 1-07.

Templenoe’s ability to scored goals ensured they had a comfortable victory over Lispole in the 2nd round of the County League. The match was played in blustery conditions with the occasional shower.

Tadhg Morley opened the scoring for Templenoe with a point which was quickly cancelled out with a long range point by Lispole midfielder Kieran O’Sullivan. Both teams followed with a series of wides before a great run from the half back line by John Rice opened up the Lispole defense, and resulted in a great goal by Cian Hallissey. Templenoe added to this with the next three points from forwards Tadhg Morley (2) and Cian Hallissey. Declan O’Sullivan responded with a point for Lispole to leave the score 1-04 to 0-02 in favour of Templenoe halfway through the first half

Points from Danny Cahalane and Cian Hallissey (free) increased Templenoe’s lead, before a great individual move by Tadhg Morley, who cut in from the corner flag, resulted in a 2nd goal for Cian Hallissey. Templenoe were moving well at this stage and followed up with another goal from Tadhg Morley and a point from Shane Cremin from out wide. Lispole tried hard to get back into the match, and scored the last two points of the half through Declan O’Sullivan (free) and Cathal O’Sullivan to leave the half time score, Templenoe 3-07, Lispole 0-04.

Templenoe had the opening score of the half from Cian Hallissey, but a long ball from the Lispole midfield left the Templenoe backs in trouble resulting in a penalty for Lispole. Declan O’Sullivan finished the ball to the net to give Lispole a glimmer of hope, but Templenoe proved to be the more clinical over the next ten minutes, and outscored Lispole by four points to one. The pick of these scores was a smart move by Templenoe resulting in a good point from John Rice from the right.

Both teams started to use their subs benches, and Templenoe continued their point scoring through John Spillane, Cian Hallissey (2) and John Rice. Lispole closed out the scoring in this game with a brace of points from Declan O’Sullivan. Final score was Templenoe 3-16, Lispole 1-07
