In a high scoring and entertaining game played in perfect conditions in Templenoe, the home team advanced to the semi finals.
Leading at the break by 0.11 to 0.03 set Templenoe on their way, and Templenoe increased it to 0.14 to 0.04 early in the second half.
Brian Crowley had the opening score which was cancelled out by a free from Ian Blake. Templenoe then had a score from Tadhg Morley who cut in from the corner and fisted over. Kerry minors Adrian Spillane and Brian Crowley followed with points. Cian Hallissey was very impressive, struck over from play and frees putting Templenoe up by 0.06 to 0.01. Ian Black knocked over a free for Beale after their wing forward was fouled after 20 mins.
Two points from Cian Hallissey, one from a free was followed by a superb long range effort from corner back John Spillane.
As half time approached good team work by Gavin Crowley, Sean Sheehan and Shane Cremin set up Adrian Spillane for two well taken points from play.
Just before the half time whistle Beale’s right half back Shane Joy got his name on the score sheet after a good team move. Half time score Templenoe 0.11, Beale 0.03.
Beale must have known their luck wasn’t in when in the first minute of the second half they hit the butt of the post and Templenoe cleared. Beale’s full forward Ian Blake sent over a free but inside a minute Tadhg Morley had cancelled it. Cian Hallissey swung over a point with this left leg from the right wing under pressure before a fine strike by Danny Cahalane from 40 meters put 10 points between the sides, Templenoe 0.14, Beale 0.04 after less than 10 mins in the half.
Beale never gave up, two points by Ian Blake and one by midfielder Declan Bambury who cut through the middle. Beale lost corner forward Tom Joy through injury.
More points followed from Ian Blake as they reduced to the margin to five, Templenoe 0.14, Beale 0.09.
Templenoe lifted the siege again when the half back line of Gavin Crowley, Kieran McCarthy, John Rice and forward Shane Cremin set up corner back Daniel O Neill for a fine point. With time running out Beale tired hard for a goal but Templenoe goal keeper Anthony Sheehan and full back Kieran O Neill cleared their lines. Beale had scores from James McMahon and Ogie Horgan in the 26th and 27th minute. Then in injury time Templenoe won a free, Cian Hallissey fired over with his left leg from 35 meters out. Declan Banbury had the last point in the 34th minute from play.
