Templenoe 1-09, An Ghaeltacht 3-14

Templenoe bowed out of the Club U21 Football Championship, with a loss to a very impressive An Ghaeltacht team at the semi-final stage of the competition.

Templenoe got off the mark with a point from Killian Spillane, but An Ghaeltacht responded quickly with a well worked goal. Both teams swapped points from frees, but An Ghaeltacht got the next point when a great Cathal Granville save saw the ball deflected over the bar.

Templenoe got the next two points from Denis O’Neill and Tadhg Morley, to leave a point in the difference at the 20 minute mark. Templenoe 0-04, An Ghaeltacht 1-02.

The next five minutes saw three unanswered points from An Ghaeltacht, but Templenoe got the last three points of the half from Denis O’Neill and two Killian Spillane frees to leave the half time score, Templenoe 0-07, An Ghaeltacht 1-05.

An Ghaeltacht got the opening score of the second half, but great work from Cian Hallissey setup Denis O’Neill to score Templenoe’s only goal of the game. Cian Hallissey followed up with another point, but this from then on, An Ghaeltacht took control of the match to score 2-06 in the last 20 minutes to run out convincing winners.

Final score Templenoe 1-09, An Ghaeltacht 3-14.

Before the match, a minutes silence was held in honour of Kenmare District Board Chairman, PJ McIntyre, who passed away earlier in the week.
