Result: Templenoe defeated Fossa final of the Novice Sheild.

Templenoe 3-16, Fossa 0-8.

This was a great team performance from Templenoe who completely outplayed Fossa from start to finish. There was great support for Templenoe and this gave the team an almighty lift as they hit the pitch. When the ball was thrown Fossa were the first to attack but solid defending and a vital interception by full back Eddie O' Sullivan cut out the danger. Minutes later Shane Cremin opened the scoring with a free after Mike Crowley was fouled. Soon after Fossa equalised and this was the last time the sides were level.

The wind was well used by Templenoe in the first half with Alan Sheehan pointing from over 50m out. This was added to by Mike Crowley who rounded his marker to shoot from close range. Timmy Clifford then got point number four for Templenoe. Fossa got their second point but it was Templenoe who ruled the roost for the rest of the half scoring 1-8 without reply. The fifth point was from a free by Shane with is left leg from over near the sideline. Centre back Gary Sheehan scored the next point following a fine solo run though the middle of the field. Mike Jones then scored, followed by Shane Cremin and Timmy Clifford. Templenoe's goal was scored by Timmy Clifford following a great cross field pass from Mike Crowley and before the break Templenoe got two more points from Mike Crowley and Shane Cremin to leave the half time score Templenoe 1-12, Fossa 0-2.

In the second half Templenoe started well again with Mike Crowley using his power and strength to drive another nail into Fossa's coffin. Fossa got the next three points before a mike Jones fisted effort rolled over the crossbar. Brian O' Connor got an excellent point after his brilliant solo run up the wing ended with a fist pass over the bar.

Fossa raised two more white flags before centre forward Fergus O' Sullivan crashed in goal number two for Templenoe. Substitute Damian Clifford fired home a third goal after a pass from Fergus. In between the goals Shane Cremin had scored another point from a free.

On accepting the cup from Eamon O' Sullivan Shane Cremin thanked the county board, the supporters, the selectors, the sponsors and trainer Eddie O' Sullivan. After the game the team had a meal in the Square Pint and after a few more stops finished up in Pat Spillane's bar.
