Templenoe 0-18 Ballylongford 1-4
Templenoe proved too good for Ballylongford in the Castleisland Mart Novice Championship last Saturday evening in Templenoe.
Templenoe's Cian Hallissey opened the scoring in the first minute and a minute later full forward Tagh Morley was fouled in the square and the referee awarded Templenoe a penatly. Patrick Palmer struck the penatly but the Ballylongford keeper Patrick O'Brien made a superb save diving to his right to deflect the ball around the post for a 45, which was converted by Teddy Doyle.
Templenoe increased their lead with points from Cian Hallissey, Patrick Palmer and Tadgh Morley. Ballylongford finally got on the scoreboard, when both their cornerforwards Jason Deegan and Liam Weir hit the target from play. Just before the break Cian Hallissey converted a free, before Tadgh Morley got another from play to put Templenoe 0-7 to Ballylongford 0-2 ahead at half time.
Templenoe continued from where they left off in the first half with scores coming from Cian Hallissey, Teddy Doyle, Sean Sheahan, Patrick Palmer and Shane Cremin to leave 10 points between the teams. Ballylongford responded with a good move finished off by corner back Mike McEllistrim and a free from Kieran Mulvihill to leave the score Templenoe 0-12 to Ballylongford 0-4.
Templenoe got the next 3 points from Shane Cremin (2) and Patrick Palmer, before Ballylongford's David Culhane rattled the net after they worked their way through for a goal. Templenoe had the final scores of the game through Teddy Doyle and Martin Reilly to leave the final score Templenoe 0-18, Ballylongford 1-4.
All in all it was a good performance from Templenoe with the full back line solid throughout and the half back line and midfield worked well as did the half forward line, while the full forward line were always a threat to the opposition's defence.
