Templenoe 3-15, Milltown/Castlemaine 2-07
Templenoe had a very comprehensive win over Milltown/Castlemaine in Round 4 of the County Senior Football League. The visitors played with the strong breeze in the first half, but failed to capitalize on this advantage leaving Templenoe to kick the opening two points of the match from Brian Crowley and Killian Spillane. The first 10 minutes were very scrappy with both teams kicking away possession, and on the 10th minute David Roche kicked Milltown/Castlemaine’s only point of the half. Templenoe started to pick off the scores as they grew into the game, kicking four points in a row, and on the 24th minute, Stephen O’Sullivan finished off a great Templenoe move with a goal.
Milltown/Castlemaine did work plenty of scoring opportunities, but were guilty of numerous wides through the half from both open play and placed balls. Their situation got much worse with a minute to go in the half when Brian Crowley scored Templenoe’s second goal to leave the half time score, Templenoe 2-08, Milltown/Castlemaine 0-01.
Templenoe continued the scoring trend and kicked two early points after the interval from Stephen O’Sullivan and Brian Crowley, but the following ten minutes saw Milltown/Castlemaine kick four points in succession from Cathal Moriarty (2), Donal Kelleher, and Jack McCarthy. The visitor’s momentum was halted when Stephen O’Sullivan scored his second goal of the match on the 19th minute and Templenoe kicked four unanswered points soon afterwards.
Both teams started to bring on substitutions, and in the last few minutes, a scoring burst from Milltown/Castlemaine added two goals and two points to the scoreline with centre forward Pa Wrenn doing the damage by scoring 1-02. The final whistle saw Templenoe victorious on a score of Templenoe 3-15, Milltown / Castlemaine 2-07 and picking up two very valuable County League points.

Div1 County SFL, Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-12, Templenoe 0-11
Templenoe came away empty handed from a very well contested County Senior Football Match, played in Blustery conditions on a damp Saturday evening in Glenbeigh. The wind was blowing across the field and really did not offer up much of an advantage to either team.
Gavin O’Grady pointed a free on the fourth minute to start the scoring, but Stephen O’Sullivan responded with a brace of points for Templenoe. Colm McGillycuddy landed a great long range point to level matters before another Stephen O’Sullivan point restored the visitors to the lead. Glenbeigh/Glencar were enjoying great success around midfield from the restarts, and some good play set up centre forward Caolim Teahan for a point. Templenoe again responded when a fantastic pass from Adrian Spillane put John Rice through on goal, but his shot went over the bar. This left the score on the 20th minute, Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-03, Templenoe 0-04.
Another two points in a row from Stephen O’Sullivan extended Templenoe’s lead, but they were pegged back by a Gavin O’Grady pointed free. John Rice kicked an absolutely wonderful point from out wide on the right wing for another Templenoe score but this was cancelled out by a Fergal Griffin score. In the remaining minutes, a point apiece left the half time score Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-06, Templenoe 0-08, with both teams knowing they could improve in the second half.
Gavin O’Grady again opened the scoring after the interval, and Eugene Courtney soon followed with the levelling score for Glenbeigh/Glencar. Brian Crowley kicked a free returning Templenoe to a slender lead as the intensity of the match started to ramp to championship levels. Caolim Teahan pointed his second of the match leaving the teams level on a score of Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-09, Templenoe 0-09 with twenty minutes remaining.
Both teams were guilty of missing scoring opportunities in this period and the following ten minutes only witnessed two scores, a point by Brian Crowley and a pointed free by Gavin O’Grady. The home side were not doing as well in this period from the kick outs, but Templenoe were struggling to work openings against a very well organized Glenbeigh/Glencar defence. The defining moments of the match came as the clock ticked towards the 30 minute mark. Jason McKenna pointed to put the home side into the lead, and this was soon followed up by another Caolim Teahan point. Brian Crowley pointed a free in the 31st minute, but there was no more injury time to be played and Glenbeigh/Glencar emerged victorious on a score of Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-12. Templenoe 0-11

Templenoe 4-10, Austin Stacks 1-16.
An injury time goal from Stephen O’Sullivan sealed a hard earned win for Templenoe in a match played in ideal conditions in Templenoe last Saturday evening. This game ebbed and flowed all through and could have gone either way.
The home side playing with a slight breeze got off to a dream start with a goal from Brian Crowley, who drilled a low shot to the net, giving goalkeeper David Hennessey no chance. However, Austin Stacks hit back with 4 unanswered points all from play through David Mannix, Alan Duggan, Shane O’Callaghan and Jack O’Shea, to put the visitors 1 point in front. Templenoe squandered a few chances, before a Danny Cahalane shot from way out took a bounce to the take the ball all the way over the crossbar. David Mannix and Stephen O’Sullivan (free) exchanged scores to leave the sides level after 15 minutes. Then Killian Spillane (free) and Cian Hallissey both raised white flags for Templenoe, but these points were cancelled out by Alan Duggan and Jack O’Shea efforts for the Tralee men. Then Stacks foward Fiachna Mangan got inside the Templenoe full back line and despatached the ball to the roof of the net from close range, to give them a 3 point advantage. To their credit the home side responded strongly with well taken scores from Stephen O’Sullivan and Brian Crowley (0-3) to give Templenoe a slender lead at the break.
Half Time Score: Templenoe 1-8, Austin Stacks 1-7.
Austin Stacks opened the scoring in the 2nd half with 2 pointed frees from David Mannix either side of a score from Jack Morgan who split the posts after making a great solo run up the field. The home side went close for goal twice, before the visitors stretched their lead with an impressive third point from their centre back Jack O’Shea. However, Templenoe eventually did get their second goal in a move involving John Rice and Sean Sheehan who put Stephen O’Sullivan through to finish superbly. However, Stacks replied with scores from Mikey Collins and David Mannix before Josh Crowley Holland pounced to fist a high ball into the net from a Teddy Doyle free for a crucial goal to the home side. Yet again Austin Stacks kept their composure and hit back with Darragh O’Brien and Jack O’Shea both landing the ball over with bar to give the away side a 1 point lead coming into the closing minutes. But with the match in the melting pot, it was Templenoe that got on top when it mattered most and they pressed home with points from Killian Spillane (free) and Brian Crowley, before the ever dangerous Stephen O’Sullivan sealed the match with an injury time goal. Austin Stacks did respond with one more pointed free, but Templenoe despite losing Teddy Doyle to a second yellow card, held on for a much needed second county league win.

Division 1 County Senior Football League Round 8.
Templenoe 0-7, Dr Crokes 0-12.
Templenoe hosted the All Ireland Club Champions in a match played in wet and misty conditions last Saturday evening.
Dr Crokes who played with the wind in the first half raced into a four point lead with scores from Kieran O'Leary and Colm Cooper, before Daithi Casey added two frees. During this time, Templenoe were struggling to find a way through the Crokes defence and had numerous attacks intercepted, before Martin Reilly eventually opened their account with a point from close range in the 11th minute. The visitors then extended their lead with both midfielders Paul Clarke and Alan O'Sullivan splitting the posts to put them 0-6 to 0-1 ahead at the end of the first quarter. The latter almost followed this up with a goal, but his shot rocketed against the crossbar. However, the Crokes maintained control and soon after the evergreen Colm Cooper and Paul Clarke popped over two more points to add to their tallies. Yet Templenoe did finish the half well with Teddy Doyle successfully landing two 45's over the bar to leave the half time score Templenoe 0-3, Dr Crokes 0-8.
The home side started the second half brightly with a great score from a tight angle through Brian Crowley. With the drizzle getting heavier, Dr Crokes replied with a well taken point from their corner back Brian Fitzgerald. However, Templenoe continued to rally and in the 8th minute Stephen O'Sullivan was put through on goal, only to be fouled just outside the box. Brian Crowley converted the resultant free. Then Killian Spillane added another free to put just a goal between the sides midway through the second half. There was no way though, that Dr Crokes the masters of ball retention were going to let this game slip. Their patient play saw them tag on three more points through the boots of Shane Doolan, Daithi Casey and David O'Leary to close out the game, before Killian Spillane got a consolation score for Templenoe.
