Division 1, County Senior Football League, Round 9.
John Mitchels 1-13, Templenoe 4-11

Templenoe recorded their 3rd win in the County league by defeating John Mitchels in the John Mitchels GAA Grounds last Sunday.
Stephen O’Sullivan opened the scoring with a point from play for Templenoe. Then the Mitchels responded with four unanswered points thanks to two frees from Alan O’Donoghue and James Duggan, before Alan O’Donoghue and Michael Wrenn added two more scores from play. The sides were soon level however, with Danny Cahalane, Brian Crowley and Patrick Clifford all hitting the target for Templenoe. John Mitchels centre back Laurence Bastible briefly restored their lead with a point, but the Kenmare District side immediately replied with both Cian Hallissey and Teddy Doyle raising white flags.  The Tralee men hit the front again with a well taken goal from Shane O’Connor, but it was the visitors that went on to dominate the remainder of the half. Martin Reilly scored their first goal in the 26th minute before Stephen O’Sullivan and Martin Reilly followed this up with a point each to add to their tallies. Then, shortly before the half time whistle Killian Spillane extended Templenoe’s lead with their second goal to put them in a commanding position. Yet, there was time for one more Mitchels point through George Bastible to leave the score at the interval: John Mitchels 1-6 Templenoe 2-9.
John Mitchels started the 2nd half brightly with Shane O’Connor, Alan O’Donoghue and Stevie O’Mahony all splitting the posts, before James Duggan converted a 45 to reduce the margin to just two points. The turning point in the match came in the 43rd minute, when Templenoe were awarded a penalty after the Mitchels keeper Dermot Raggett fouled Brian Crowley. The aforementioned Brian Crowley made no mistake with the spot kick. Soon after the home side were dealt another blow, when Martin Reilly struck for his second and Templenoe’s fourth goal to put them eight points ahead. The visitors went on to add two more points from Brian Crowley and Killian Spillane in the final quarter, while Laurence Bastible, Alan O’Donoghue and James Duggan (free) popped over three points for the Mitchels in the same period to leave the final score John Mitchels 1-13, Templenoe 4-11.

Rathmore 4-05, Templenoe 0-20

Templenoe came away from Rathmore with two very valuable County League points in a very exciting match played on a dry but very breezy Friday evening.

Templenoe played with the wind in the first half, and got their first score when an early long ball hopped in the square and was added to by Patrick Clifford for a point. Rathmore replied with a free soon after wards, but Templenoe went on to kick four more points in the opening ten minutes. This good spell for Templenoe was halted on the 12th minute when Daniel O’Sullivan scored a goal for the home side, but Templenoe recovered and kicked another brace of points from the boot of Stephen O’Sullivan and Gavin Crowley.

The score on the 20th minute was Rathmore 1-01, Templenoe 0-06, and despite the Templenoe dominance, Rathmore took the lead when a great individual effort by John Moynihan resulted in another goal. Templenoe again gathered themselves, and pointed another four in a row through Brian Crowley, Danny Cahalane, Teddy Doyle and Stephen O’Sullivan to retake the lead. The final minute of the half saw both teams swap a point each leaving the half time score Rathmore 2-02, Templenoe 0-11.

With Rathmore playing with the wind in the second half, the visitors expected to be under more pressure but Templenoe scored the opening two points after the interval. This again gave a comfortable lead of five points but Rathmore responded with a goal by full forward, John O’Keeffe. The intensity of the match started to build up but Templenoe were winning enough ball around midfield to continue to set up attacks. Stephen O’Sullivan pointed a free which was cancelled out by a Brendan O’Keeffe free for Rathmore.

Templenoe added three more points to their tally to again put daylight between the teams, but on the 20th minute Rathmore scored their fourth goal of the match when Donal O’Sullivan slotted home a penalty. This left the scoreline, Rathmore 4-03, Templenoe 0-17 with ten minutes remaining.

John Moynihan kicked a point to reduce the arrears to the minimum, but a lot of the attacks by the home side were being broken up due to some great individual Templenoe defending and a number of important interceptions helped. Templenoe pulled away in the last five minutes with points from Brian Crowley, Killian Spillane and Stephen O’Sullivan. There was a few minutes of injury time played, but despite Rathmore pressing for a goal, Templenoe held out as victors on a score of Rathmore 4-05, Templenoe 0-20

Valentia/Skellig  had beaten Templenoe/Sneem/Derrynane by 2 points when the teams met earlier in the league they also won the toss for home venue.

County Senior Football League Division 1 Round 11:
Kerins O'Rahillys 2-12, Templenoe 2-14.
Templenoe rounded off their county league campaign with an away win over Kerins O'Rahilly's last Sunday. This was an entertaining game played in warm conditions.
Templenoe started well and were ahead by 0-3 to 0-1 after 5 minutes with Brian Crowley, Stephen O'Sullivan and Teddy Doyle all hitting the target. Kerins O'Rahillys responded strongly with four unanswered points through the boots of Barry John Keane, Rory Molloy and two from Tom Hoare, which included a 45 from the latter. This put the home side one point in front at the end of the first quarter. Both sides had goal chances in between, with Anthony Sheehan making a good save from Barry John Keane, while Teddy Doyle had a goal bound effort denied by KOR Keeper Gary Kissane. Templenoe took the initiative again in the second quarter with Josh Crowley Holland and Stephen O'Sullivan popping over two points, before Brian Crowley split the posts through a fisted effort to put the visitors back in front. However, the first half ended with Tommy Walsh and Barry John Keane restoring the host's advantage with two well taken scores.
Half Time Score: Kerins O'Rahillys 0-7 Templenoe 0-6.
The second half began with Tommy Walsh extending the Tralee's side lead with another point, but Templenoe's response was immediate, when the lively Brian Crowley broke through the O'Rahilly's defence to neatly dispatch the ball to the top corner of the net for the visitor's first goal. Kerins O’Rahilly’s hit back with two scores from County star David Moran, but his withdrawal soon after was to prove a big blow for the home side. Templenoe now started to get on top around midfield and they made their dominance count with the next five scores in a row coming from Killian Spillane (0-2F), Cian Hallissey (0-2) and Adrian Spillane, to put them four points ahead at the end of the third quarter. Kerins O’Rahilly’s replied with two pointed frees from Barry John Keane to keep them in touch. However, the Kenmare District side then put their foot on the accelerator once more with well worked scores from Cian Hallissey and Killian Spillane to add to their tallies. With time almost up, Templenoe looked to have secured the win when substitute Pat Spillane drilled a low shot to the net, but to their credit Kerins O’Rahilly’s fought to the end and struck two goals through Gearoid Savage and Barry John Keane. However, there was time for no more as Templenoe came away with a deserved win.
