South Kerry League, Templenoe V St Michaels/Foilmore Match Report
South Kerry League Group A Round 3:
Templenoe 1-15, St Michaels/Foilmore 0-6.
Templenoe comfortably overcame the challenge from St Michaels/Foilmore last Sunday, to give the home side their second win in the competition.
Templenoe raced into a three points lead with Stephen O’Sullivan and Pat Spillane (2) hitting the target. St Michael/Foilmore replied with an effort from former Kerry Under 21 star Matthew O’Sullivan. The remainder of the half saw the hosts completely dominate proceedings, with scores from Stephen O’Sullivan (2), Brian Crowley and John Rice putting Templenoe 0-7 to 0-1 ahead after 15 minutes of play. Soon after the visitors task got even harder, when they had to replace Matthew O’Sullivan, after he picked up a back injury. Templenoe duly kept their foot on the pedal and a brace of points from Stephen O’Sullivan, John Rice and Brian Crowley extended the home side’s lead to nine points. Pierce McGill did split the posts for St Michaels/Foilmore in the closing minutes of the first half, but Templenoe immediately responded with a point from Pat Spillane. Then came the best move of the match, which started with a long kick out from Templenoe Keeper Danny Cahalane to find Josh Crowley Holland with pinpoint accuracy, who in turn fed Pat Spillane to dispatch the ball to the roof of the net, for a superb finish.
Half Time Score: Templenoe 1-11, St Michaels/Foilmore 0-2.
To their credit St Michaels/Foillmore did stage a bit of a rally in the opening minutes of the second half with Cian Goggin and Pierce McGill finding the range. However, Templenoe were in no mood to let their lead slip and pushed on with Stephen O’Sullivan, Josh Crowley Holland and Pat Spillane all raising white flags, to leave the home side 1-14 to 0-4 points in front with 12 minutes remaining. Both teams used the opportunity to give a few subs game time and it was of one of the St Michaels/Foilmore substitute’s Darran O’Sullivan, who stepped up to slot over a close in free for the South Kerry side. The match ended with Luke O’Shea and Stephen O’Sullivan trading points.

South Kerry League, Templenoe V Renard Match Report
South Kerry League Group A Round 2:
Templenoe 1-6, Renard 2-4
A lacklustre performance from Templenoe saw them lose out by one point at home to Renard in a match played in wet and windy conditions.
Templenoe started quite well and got off the mark with a close range point from Martin Reilly in the 2nd minute. But Renard who had wind advantage in the first half replied with two scores of their own through Darragh Fitzgerald and Kevin Kelly. Teddy Doyle tied up the scores again after he converted a free, following a foul on John Rice. Then two quick points from the Spillane cousins Pat and Tom put the hosts 0-4 to 0-2 ahead at the end of the first quarter. Scores were hard to come by in the next 15 minutes, with the rain starting to cpme down heavy, but Darragh Fitzgerald did find the range for the visitors with a score from over 30 yards out. Then just on the stroke of half time, Mark Sugrue landed a 45 over the bar to leave matters all square at the interval.
Half Time Score: Templenoe 0-4, Renard 0-4
The opening 12 minutes of the second half saw both sides, but Templenoe in particular guilty of coughing up possession and handling errors. The home side just failed to take advantage of the strong wind and hit a number of wides as well. However, in the 13th minute John Moriarty put Pat Spillane through for the game’s first goal, a rocket of shot giving Renard Keeper James O’Sullivan no chance. Renard’s response though was imminent with Kevin Curran combining with Sean O’Connor, who hit a low shot to the net to level the scores once again. Teddy Doyle briefly restored Templenoe’s lead to one point, but then the host’s were dealt a blow when they lost their top scorer Pat Spillane to a second yellow card. The game was now on a knife edge and with just a few minutes remaining, a high ball in from Brian Sugrue was fisted to the net by Liam Sugrue. Veteran Dan O’Connor almost had a goal for Templenoe, but his effort was well saved by the goalie. Then in injury time a long ball from John Rice was gathered by Teddy Doyle, but he fired his effort just over the crossbar.
Final Score: Templenoe 1-6, Renard 2-4
