Jack (Jacko) O'Sullivan - RIP
It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our Templenoe GAA Club President, Jack (Jacko) O’Sullivan of Claddanure on Wednesday, 19th March. Jacko was a beloved member of Templenoe, and will be remembered for his kindness, gentle nature and dedication to his family and community.
Jacko was a lifelong and devoted member of Templenoe GAA Club who contributed on many occasions down through the years to the Blue & White. He lined out in goal during the 1950’s and 1960’s and captained the Templenoe Team in 1958.
Upon retirement from the Templenoe Senior team, Jacko served as a club officer where he was a delegate to the District Board, as well as a mentor to some underage teams in the 60’s.
As a supporter Jacko followed Templenoe through thick and thin and was a familiar smiling face down at the Templenoe GAA Field. Jacko passed on his love to Templenoe to his four sons, Patrick, John, Tom and Paul who lined out from underage to senior, and helped keep the club going through the less successful years. His son Patrick served as PRO for over 10 years and Paul is the current club PRO. Sadly, we lost our corner back, Tom in 2020.
Outside of football, Jacko’s other great interests were in farming and playing cards. He was an ever present at the Annual Templenoe GAA 31 card drive.
Jacko has been a Templenoe GAA Club President since 2020. This was a position that Jacko felt deeply honoured by and it was richly deserved.
Everyone at Templenoe GAA Club would like to extend our sincere condolences to his wife Mary (O’Connor), Patrick, John and Paul O’Sullivan, and the wider O’Sullivan and O’Connor family’s on the passing of Jack (Jacko) O’Sullivan.
