Ballydonoghue 0-02, Templenoe 4-13

Templenoe made the long trip north and came away with a good win. The match was played in ideal conditions with Templenoe leading from the start with an early goal by Danny Cahalane. Points were exchanged between the sides with Patrick Palmer getting on the scoreboard for Templenoe. Templenoe took over the remainder of the first half with points from Adrian Spillane (2), Kieran McCarthy, Gavin Crowley and Sean Sheehan before Danny Cahalane cooly took his second goal on the 24th minute. John Rice tipped on a point after he was alert to a ball that came off the post leaving the half time score Ballydonoghue 0-01, Templenoe 2-07.

Templenoe were without the injured Brian Crowley but welcomed back Shane Cremin who kept on the pressure in the second half. Ballydonoghue had a free converted early in the second half but Templenoe replied through Kieran McCarthy, Danny Cahalane, and Adrian Spillane all raising the white flag.

The game was put beyond doubt when John Rice capitalized on a mistake in the Ballydonoghue defence for Templenoe's third goal. More points followed from Killian Spillane, Denis O Neill and John Rice before Tadhg Morley last minute goal left the half time score Ballydonoghue 0-02, Templenoe 4-13

 

Ballymac 3-07, Templenoe 0-07

Ballymac proved to be too good for Templenoe in a match played in splendid conditions in Ballymac on Saturday evening.

The home side got off to a great start and opened their scoring with a goal inside five minutes. Templenoe soon responded through a Cian Hallissey point, but Ballymac were having the better of the early exchanges, and scored the next four points. Templenoe who were aided by the breeze in the 1st half, pushed hard for scores, but were let down on occasions by poor shooting. John Rice pointed Templenoe’s second point of the half on the 25th minute, but Ballymac added to their tally just before half time to leave the score, Ballymac 1-05, Templenoe 0-02

Templenoe started off the 2nd half with a pointed free from Cian Hallissey, but Ballymac soon responded with another point. John Spillane scored a point from play, but a well worked move by Ballymac, opened up the Templenoe defence and they struck for their 2nd goal. This left Templenoe with a lot of work to in the final 20 minutes with the score at, Ballymac 2-06, Templenoe 0-04.

Templenoe didn’t give up, and had points through John Rice, Cian Hallissey and Danny Cahalane to give themselves a glimmer of hope, but this proved to be the last of the Templenoe scoring. Ballymac, who were very impressive in midfield throughout the match, added a point and a scrambled goal just before the final whistle, and ran out deserving winners on a score line of Ballymac 3-07, Templenoe 0-07.

Scartaglin 1-07, Templenoe 0-06

A goal early in the second half proved decisive for Scartaglin in a game played in wet and difficult conditions in front of a large crowd in Scartaglin. Conditions were very slippery and Templenoe played with a very strong wind in the first half, however it was the home side that opened the scoring. Patrick Palmer leveled with a good move and more scores followed from Kieran McCarthy and Sean Sheehan. Scartaglin soon leveled but a long range point from Adrian Spillane put Templenoe in the lead again. Just before the break Scartaglin equalizer from play leaving the half time score Scartaglin 0-04, Templenoe 0-04.

Early in the second half Scartaglin scored the important goal when a long ball put their forward through on goal. They quickly followed this up with two points from play to leave them 1-06 to 0-04 ahead. Teddy Doyle got one point back from a free but again Scartaglin went down the field and kicked over another point. The final score came Templenoe way with a point from Teddy Doyle leaving the full time score Scartaglin 1-07, Templenoe 0-06

Fossa 0-08, Templenoe 1-18

Templenoe proved too good for Fossa in the Castleisland Co-Op Mart Novice quarter final, played in excellent conditions at Fossa on Sunday.

Before the throw in a minute silence was observed in honour on Michael Crowley Snr, Templenoe GAA Club President who passed away during the week.

Templenoe got off to a fantastic start through a goal by Brian Crowley inside five minutes. Points were added to by Brian Crowley and Teddy Doyle before Fossa Tadhg O Shea opened their account with a free. Templenoe continued their point scoring and had four unanswered points from Brian Crowley, Teddy Doyly & Danny Cahalane (2). Fossa’s full back Daniel O Keeffe sent over a point but Templenoe responded with points from John Rice and Killian Spillane. Both team’s swapped points and fossa followed up with two more, late on in the half. The last score of the half came Templenoe way from a fine Teddy Doyle effort leaving the half time score Fossa 0-05, Templenoe 1-10.

Templenoe who were playing against the breeze in the second half continued to dominant play but had some wasteful shooting in the first ten minutes. Points came from Killian Spillane (2), John Spillane and Brian Crowley to push the game out of Fossa’s reach. Fossa’s centre back struck over a fine point which was replied to by Killian Spillane. In the last ten minutes Templenoe finished out the scoring with points from Shane Cremin, Teddy Doyle and Daniel O Neill to leave the final score Fossa 0-08, Templenoe 1-18
