Templenoe proved to be too good against Kilgarvan in the 2nd round of the Spillane Cup. The match was played on a very muddy Templenoe pitch in very wet conditions.

Templenoe proved too good for Renard in the South Kerry League match played in Templenoe on Sunday. Templenoe opened the scoring though Danny Cahalane and Teddy Doyle before following up with goals from John Moriarty and Denis O Neill. The home team added further points from Teddy Doyle, Denis O Neill and Danny Cahalane to go in at half time 2-05 to 0-02.

A goal early in the second half by Danny Cahalane put the game beyond Renard and they continued their point scoring through Teddy Doyle and Darren McCarthy. Templenoe finished out the game with more scores from Teddy Doyle, John Moriarty (2), Daniel and Denis O Neill to leave the final score Templenoe 2-12, Renard 0-04

Templenoe 5-11, St. Mary’s 1-10

Templenoe got their Division 3 campaign off to a great start by defeating St. Mary’s in very showery conditions in Templenoe. St. Mary’s who were playing without County star Brian Sheehan had the first attack of the game but shot narrowly wide. In the fourth minute Danny Cahalane crashed the ball to the back of the St Mary’s net. This was followed up with a long range point from Gavin Crowley but Daniel Daly responded with a point on the 6th minute. A great long pass from Gavin Crowley found his brother Brian who pointed from play half way through the first half

Denis Daly and Sean Sheehan exchanged scores before St. Mary’s had points from Sean Cournane, Niall O Driscoll, Daniel Daly and Aidan Walsh which tied the game at 1-03, 0-06. John Rice edged Templenoe in front on the 27th Minute and just before half time a high ball was flicked to the net by Teddy Doyle to leave the half time score Templenoe 2-04, St. Mary’s 0-06.

The second half was only moments old when John Rice got Templenoe’s third goal. Templenoe got great confidence from this and followed up with points from John Rice, Danny Cahalane and Killian Spillane. Sean Cournane responded to keep St. Mary’s in touch after 37 minutes. Templenoe struck from their fourth goal when Killian Spillane rifled home after a good pass from Danny Cahalane. Killian Spillane followed up with a free and on the 50th minute John Spillane was put through for Templenoe’s fifth goal. With time running out St. Mary’s started to push for a goal and were rewarded with a three pointer for Dennis Daly. They followed this up with a point from Daniel Daly. Templenoe started to introduce subs with time running out and added more points through Denis O Neill, John Rice and Cian Hallissey. Denis Daly finished off the scoring for St. Mary’s to leave the final score Templenoe 5-11, St. Mary’s 1-10
