Division 1 County SFL, Dr Crokes V Templenoe
Dr Crokes 6-28, Templenoe 2-08
The penultimate round of Templenoe’s County League campaign proved to be a forgettable experience, as they lost heavily to a very slick and well drilled Dr Crokes side. Templenoe were still short numbers due to injury and county commitments, but once the match settled down, found the power and pace of Dr Crokes too much to handle.
Adrian Spillane opened the scoring with a point, and despite taking five minutes to get off the mark, Dr Crokes kicked the next eight points in a row. This was done through dominance around the midfield sector and having the ability to kick some great passes into their inside forwards. Kieran O’Leary scored the first goal for the home side on the seventeenth minute, and this trend continued up to the half time whistle with the score, Dr Crokes 2-15, Templenoe 1-04. Adrian Spillane getting the Templenoe goal on the 30th minute.
There was no change in the flow of the match in the second half with the home side continuing to push hard for scores. They added another four goals from Gavin O’Shea (2), Kieran O’Leary and Johnny Buckley. The pick of Templenoe’s scores was a point by John Spillane on the run and a penalty by Killian Spillane. The final score ended up, Dr Crokes 6-28, Templenoe 2-08

Division 1 County SFL, Killarney Legion V Templenoe
Killarney Legion 0-14, Templenoe 0-14:
The match ended as a draw, but both teams could make arguments to say they deserved the victory in a very exciting match played in Direen, Killarney for Round 9 of the County Senior Football League. After a wet morning, the day had dried up very nicely, but there was a very strong breeze which favoured Templenoe in the opening half.
Templenoe were short of a number of first team regulars again, played very well in the first half with the aid of a strong breeze. They comfortably had the better of the exchanges around midfield, and were intent on leaving the ball do the work, with a series of long passes kicked into the full forward line.
Templenoe kicked the first two points of the match through a Stephen O’Sullivan free and Sean Sheehan from play. These scores were cancelled out by two points from the home team from Billy McGuire and Pat McCarthy. Pat Spillane pointed to restore Templenoe’s lead and following a series of wides by both teams, Danny Cahalane kicked a great point from a tight angle. Legion's Midfielder, Jamie O'Sullivan made his presence felt by kicking a point from play, before good work by Danny Cahalane and Pat Spillane put Kieran McCarthy through to kick a point. The score on the fifteen minute mark was Legion 0-03, Templenoe 0-05.
Templenoe enjoyed a good patch of play for the next ten minutes and kicked points from Teddy Doyle, Stephen O’Sullivan and Danny Cahalane. Legion had pulled players behind the ball and struggled to get the ball up the field, but a good five minutes by Jamie O’Sullivan towards the end of the half, saw him kick three great points to reduce the deficit. The half time score was Legion 0-06, Templenoe 0-08.
Teddy Doyle kicked the first point of the second half which was cancelled out by a David O’Sullivan score for Legion. A Pat Spillane score extended the visitors lead, but a five minute purple patch featuring three points by Legion saw both teams level on a score of Legion 0-10, Templenoe 0-10 at the 40th minute. The Legion scorers were their corner forwards David O’Sullivan (2) and Peter McCarthy.
Teddy Doyle kicked a great long range free from the ground, but the match had started to ramp up in intensity. Denis Sheehan received a black card for Legion, and not long afterwards, Patrick Clifford received a Red to leave Templenoe playing with fourteen men for the remainder of the match. Legion seized the initiative, and kicked the next three scores as they seemed to be pulling away. Templenoe kept trying and after missing a very good goal chance, they pulled back a point through a Stephen O’Sullivan free. This was on the 60th minute and Legion were reduced to fourteen men at this stage which handed the initiative back to the visitors. Another great scorer by Teddy Doyle levelled matters, and soon after a great individual run by Pat Spillane saw Templenoe take the lead.
Templenoe had one final attack foiled, and Legion quickly moved the ball up the field to equalize with a score form wing forward Kevin Breen. This was the 65th minute and there was time for no more, leaving both teams level on a score of Legion 0-14, Templenoe 0-14

Div1 County SFL, Templenoe V Kenmare
Division1 County SFL:
Templenoe 2-08, Kenmare 0-11
In a very evenly matched contest, Templenoe’s two goals proved to be the difference in round 8 of the County Senior Football league. The match was played on a damp afternoon in Templenoe GAA grounds with little or no wind.
The home side had already kicked two wides before Denis O’Neill opened the scoring with a point from play. Paul O’Connor responded with a free, but a dropping ball from a Killian Spillane free, was spilled in the square and Teddy Doyle palmed the ball to the net. This score gave Templenoe a very important cushion for the remainder of the half.
Both teams swapped wides and the dangerous Brian O’Sullivan got on a run at goal to kick a point for Kenmare. Kevin O’Sullivan responded with another for the visitors, to leave the scores at the 15 minute mark, Templenoe 1-01, Kenmare 0-03
Templenoe kicked four points in a row in the next ten minutes from the boots of Killian Spillane and Denis O’Neill to extend their lead. Kenmare were unlucky not to snatch a goal when a David Hallissey shot hit the upright and Brian O’Sullivan pointed the rebound. Soon after Brian O’Sullivan kicked his third point of the match. The final two points of the half were split between both teams leaving the half time score, Templenoe 1-06, Kenmare 0-06.
Kevin O’Sullivan kicked the first point of the second half, and it took another five minutes before John Spillane responded with a point from a very tight angle. Scores were very hard to get during this period, and the scoreline on the 45th minute was Templenoe 1-08, Kenmare 0-08.
Kenmare substitute Fionan O’Sullivan reduced the arrears with a point, and soon after Shane O’Sullivan brought the deficit to the minimum with a point from the forty five meter line. Things were shaping up for a very exciting last ten minutes, but a very fast Templenoe break put Killian Spillane through who rifled the ball to the net. Kenmare responded with a Paul O’Connor point, but time was running out, and the visitors never really worked an opening for a goal.

Division 1 County SFL, Kilcummin V Templenoe
Kilcummin 0-14, Templenoe 0-11.
Templenoe suffered their first loss of their league campaign, when they took on a very determined Kilcummin outfit on a dry but breezy Saturday evening in Kilcummin GAA Grounds.
The visitors, who were short a quantity of players due to injury, started the match in a promising fashion, and by the 7th minute Pat Spillane had kicked a hat trick of points from play. They were playing with the breeze and were initially causing Kilcummin problems. From the 10th minute onwards, Kilcummin came strongly into their game and through strong midfield play and quick attacks up the centre of the field, they started to pick off their scores. Full forward Kevin McCarthy was very involved and in the twenty minute period up until before half time he kicked 0-05 (0-03 frees). With Daniel O’ Leary, Richie O’Connor and Shane McSweeney adding to the score sheet, Kilcummin had built up a commanding lead approaching the interval.
Templenoe did halt the slide in the last few minutes, and a determined run by Adrian Spillane yielded a free which was pointed by Killian Spillane. Kilcummin Midfielder Kevin Gorman was black carded for this offence. The half time score was Kilcummin 0-09, Templenoe 0-04.
Templenoe came charging out of the blocks for the 2nd half and kicked a point straight from the throw in through Killian Spillane. Within five minutes, they had reduced the arrears with a further three points from Killian Spillane (0-02 frees). Richie O’Connor pointed on the 36th minute to calm Kilcummin nerves, and they soon followed up with another point from play. For the last twenty minutes, scores in the game were hard earned. Templenoe worked a great goal scoring opportunity, but Sean Sheehan blazed it over the bar. Soon after Templenoe had a goal disallowed due to a push in the square.
A Killian Spillane free reduced the arrears to the minimum with 15 minutes remaining. Kilcummin 0-11, Templenoe 0-10. Kilcummin added to their tally with a point from Mikey O’Shea, but soon after had a let off, when Killian Spillane’s low shot when through on goal, hit the base of the upright and rebounded to safety. The remaining five minutes of the match saw two more points from the home team from the boots of Philip Casey and Shane McSweeney to leave Kilcummin the winners on a score of Kilcummin 0-14, Templenoe 0-11.
