Div 2 County SFL Round 2, Listowel Emmetts V Templenoe Match Report
County Senior Football League, Division 2, Round 2.
Listowel Emmets 1-13, Templenoe 1-08.
Templenoe made the long trip north to face Listowel Emmets in round 2 of the County League last Saturday evening. A powerful third quarter from the hosts - a period that saw them hit 1-5 without reply proved the difference between the sides in the finish.
Templenoe had the aid of a strong breeze for the first half, but did not make it count in a way they would have liked and ultimately went into the interval trailing by a point. Listowel dominated the opening exchanges and were two points up inside the first four minutes courtesy of Darragh Lynch. Colin Crowley nailed a 45 to get Templenoe off the mark in the fifth minute and then the visitors were very unlucky not to add goal, when a Josh Crowley Holland effort had the keeper beaten only to come off the base of the post. Templenoe subsequently squandered two point chances, before Brian Crowley (mark) tied the scores at two point apiece in the 13th minute. In the ensuing passages of play, Listowel regained control with David Keane displaying his shooting skills to strike three points on the trot to put the hosts a goal ahead. Stephen O’Sullivan replied with a point for the visitors, but then they lost Mike Hallissey to injury, which did not help the cause. Much of the ball going into the Templenoe forwards in the first half and subsequently the second half failed to yield dividends, but Josh Crowley Holland did once again come agonisingly close to raising a green flag when his palmed attempt after good play from Brian Crowley skimmed the crossbar. Having said that, Listowel were guilty of some missed chances too. As the rain started to pour down for a brief spell, Jack McElligott and Daniel Crowley exchanged scores just before the break, to leave the hosts ahead by the minimum.
Half Time Score: Listowel Emmets 0-06, Templenoe 0-05.
The third quarter was when Listowel Emmets did all the damaged. Despite the breeze dying down, the hosts put on a great show lording the play and putting together some smart team moves to outscore Templenoe by 1-5 to 0-0 between the 30th minute and the 44th minute. Darragh Lynch (2), Jake Moriarty, David Keane and Darragh Carey were the points providers, while sandwiched in between came a well taken goal by Jack McElligott. The score was now 1-11 to 0-5 before Templenoe eventually got a badly needed score through a Stephen O’Sullivan free. The visitors battled away, but a comeback never looked likely. Listowel added further points from David Keane and Darragh Lynch and for their part Templenoe had scores from Colin Crowley and Aidan Crowely, before Brian Crowley struck home a penalty for a consolation goal.
Final Score: Listowel Emmets 1-13, Templenoe 1-08.
Scorers:
Listowel Emmets: Darragh Lynch 0-05, David Keane 0-05 (1f), Jack McElligott 1-01, Jake Moriarty 0-01, Darragh Carey 0-01.

Division 2 County SFL Match Report, Templenoe V Na Gaeil
County Senior Football League, Division 2, Round 1.
Templenoe 1-07, Na Gaeil 0-12.
Templenoe hosted Na Gaeil in the opening round of the County League, in the battle of the two senior clubs in the Division. Both teams were down a number of players due to county commitments, while Templenoe were also adjusting to life after the loss of a few players due to transfers. Nonetheless, this situation also presented opportunities for others to impress. In the end, a late goal from Templenoe’s Aidan Crowley was not enough to deny Na Gaeil from coming away with a full share of the spoils.
It was a lovely afternoon for football and Na Gaeil got the scoring underway with a close in free from Jack Sheehan. Stephen O’Sullivan countered with a placed ball for Templenoe, before two scores on the trot from Dan Goggin gave the Tralee side the lead, which they would never relinquish. Na Gaeil almost followed up with a goal in the 7th minute, but Templenoe keeper Colm Breen got down well to block a low shot from James O’Connor. Colin Crowley beautifully landed a 45 over the bar for the hosts, but Na Gaeil quickly hit back with another free from Jack Sheehan. Na Gaeil were the more dominant side, but Templenoe did have decent spells of possession, however they just seem lack cohesion at times. Daniel Crowley did raise a white flag on the 18th minute for the home side and soon after Josh Crowley Holland looked to be through on goal only for Na Gaeil net minder Aido Quirke to bat away his effort. Two scores from Cian Devine and Eoin O’Neill saw the visitors go in to the break a goal to the good.
Half Time Score: Templenoe 0-03, Na Gaeil 0-06.
To their credit Templenoe made a bright start the second half with two points in row through Brian Crowley and an inspirational one from Sean Sheehan, who showed great determination to break away from defenders before splitting the posts. This brought the margin back to the minimum. Undaunted, Na Gaeil hit three unanswered points from Jack Sheehan, Dan Goggin and Kieran O’Connor to make it 0-05 to 0-09. At this stage, one felt Templenoe’s only chance of recusing this contest was to get a goal, before Na Gaeil got too much of a grip on proceedings. John Rice did keep the scoreboard ticking over with a long range effort for Templenoe. But Na Gaeil’s decision making when on the offensive was that bit better than Templenoe’s on the day, as they created openings to tack on three more scores from Jack Sheehan, Thomas O’hAinfein and Declan Cooney to extend their lead to six points coming into the final straight. Templenoe were not going to give this game up without a fight though and rallied well in the closing minutes. Colin Crowley thumped over a free, before a good move saw Brian Crowley set up Stephen O’Sullivan - his effort was stopped, but Aidan Crowley was on hand to knock in the rebound on his county senior league debut. There was time for one last throw of the dice from Templenoe, but they were unable to pull off a second goal.
Final Score: Templenoe 1-07, Na Gaeil 0-12
Scorers:
Templenoe: Aidan Crowley 1-00, Colin Crowley 0-02 (1f, 1 45), Sean Sheehan 0-01, Stephen O’Sullivan 0-01 (1f), Daniel Crowley 0-01, Brian Crowley 0-01, John Rice 0-01.
Na Gaeil: Jack Sheehan 0-04 (3f), Dan Goggin 0-03, Cian Devine 0-01, Eoin O’Neill 0-01, Kieran O’Connor 0-01, Thomas O’hAinfein 0-01, Declan Cooney 0-01

South Kerry League Match Report, Templenoe V Dromid
South Kerry SFL Rd 3,
Templenoe 5-11, Dromid Pearses 1-10.
Our senior footballers had their first win of the year last Sunday at home to Dromid Pearses. Four first half goals from Sean Sheehan, Brian Crowley (2) and the impressive Aidan Crowley paved the way for a comprehensive victory. By half time Templenoe were 4-8 to 0-6 ahead. The second half was a more cagey affair. A goal for Dromid Pearses early on give them a little bit of hope. However, Templenoe despite not firing on all cylinders in this half, made absolute sure of their win with Brian Crowley completing his hat trick from the penalty spot in the final quarter. This result will come as welcome morale boost ahead of the commencement of the County League in a fortnight’s time.
The Templenoe team and scorers:
Colm Breen, Michael Hallissey, Kieran O’Neill, John Moriarty, Hugh Granville, Martin Reilly (0-2), Michael F O’Connor, Sean Sheehan (1-0), Kieran McCarthy (0-1), Daniel Crowley, Brian Crowley(3-1, 2pen), Josh Crowley Holland, Aidan Crowley (1-5) Stephen O’Sullivan (0-2), Colin Crowley. Subs used John Morley, Michael O’Sullivan, Dan O’Connor and Conor Murphy.
